April in Paris

April in Paris,

When Paris puts on it’s new clothes, lovers walk along the Seine, outside cafes are full, everyone is smiling, It must be Spring in Paris. Yes, April in Paris is special! Enjoy it.

Here are some things to do:

  • There are many art exhibits, Louvre has a new exhibit of De La Croix, first one in many years. Make reservation on line or ask your travel agent to book it thru your hotel. It is VERY much in demand.

  • Jacquemart Andre, a gem of a small museum with a charming cafe. Mary Casaltt artist, excellent show and it is open every day!

  • Petit Palais, Dutch artists., suggest you take the audio guide because most of the artists you will not know. The cafe in the center is great for a coffee.

  • Musee Marmottan Monet. Camille Carot exhibit, plus all the Monet’s in the permanent collection. This is a must!

  • Tintoret, Birth of a Genius. Luxembourg Museum, Saint Germain. Small great museum and DO walk in the gardens, they are SO beautiful and TINTORet Angetinas is right there. It's know for one of the best hot chocolates in Paris.

Updates on some hotels.

  • L’Hotel. Saint Germain. Only 20 rooms, all in restored antiques. Each different, with a cozy bar and great restaurant. also a small pool in the basement that you can privatize and have food and drinks there, how romantic! Oscar Wilde lived in the hotel during his later years. Very small and private.

  • Relais Christine, Saint Germain. They have just finished a wonderful restoration. The lobby and breakfast are have been completely redone. Now breakfast area is on the main floor with lots of light..beautful furnishings..and a honor bar. The rooms have been redone with lighter colors and lots of light..the beautiful garden rooms are in spring bloom..This hidden gem is the the heart of Saint Germain within walking distance of many of the new restaurants

  • Lutetia, the Left Bank Palace. Will open soon, I had a tour of it and it will be fabulous. The main floor public areas are beautifully renovated with lots of light and the uncovering of some fabulous art nouveau decoration. A grand jazz bar will be all along the street. This will be the happening bar and a great addition to the Left Bank.

Esprit Saint Germain, the hidden gem of the Left Bank. Small, private, elegant and your home in Paris!

  • Paris Opera Hilton, Saint Lazare. This was the Hotel Terminus attached to the train station. Not any more, it has gone thru a beautiful restoration and has modern rooms. Lots of light and a magnificent lobby keeping the old structure. A new champagne bar and walking distance to the Big stores and the Louvre. Very impressive restoration.

Make a stop at one of my OLD favorite restaurants “Roger La Grenouille” yes frogs legs and they are SO delicious. They have renovated the long skinny restaurant and brightened it us..Many of the old memorabilia is gone but it still looks like the place that has been there since the second World War. Prices have increased but the frogs legs are still THE BEST. Great service & great ambiance.

Spring in Paris…walk and enjoy…sit in a cafe and watch the world go by.
